"The Hunt" - Designer Finds

I love clothing. I know, shocker. But really, the world of fashion has always captivated me. Since I was young, I loved getting dressed up. I didn’t really need a reason to get fancy, I just did it. That love continued well into my teenage years and adulthood. One of my first jobs was with Nordstrom as a sales person. I continued with that company as I progressed into Human Resources, but I digress.

Regardless of where my career took me (and it took me far out of fashion), I have always loved dressing the outside to match the inside; just ask pretty much anyone who has ever met me. However, one clear differentiator is that I am not a huge fan of “fast fashion”. Don’t get me wrong, these less expensive, highly trendy stores produce some great looks, but either the trend quickly passes or they just don’t wash and wear well. I have a hard time spending my hard earned money on something that doesn’t last. Now, at the risk of sounding like a hypocrite, I have plenty of H&M, Zara and Target items in my closet. I just try to be highly selective on what I purchase from those stores. I am also highly sensitive to thee impact fast fashion and its impact on the environment.

Now, there is a fine line between being on the cutting edge of fashion and looking out of touch. I also struggle buying very trendy pieces on high end places since it does go out of style. So what I am saying is it is a balance. Also, last I checked there isn’t a money tree in my backyard. Our kids pretty much suck up all our extra funds leaving far less for my fashion passion. This leaves me in a bit of a debacle: I want nice things, that last, without the hefty price tag. Hence, “The Hunt” was born.

The friends and family that can vouch for my love of fashion are the same folks who can corroborate the fact that I am a shopper. Not in the sense that buy a lot (although my husband may disagree). No, I hunt. I am constantly on the lookout and jumping from site to site, trying to find the quality pieces for less. Not to drive the point too far home, but I love a sale and I don’t pay full price for anything. And…I get a huge thrill from scoring an expensive designer piece for a palatable price.

I share this because, I don’t do any shopping voodoo to find these pieces. I also don’t have any hookups at stores (but if you do I would love to be your BFF). I just hunt. Also, the most important thing of all, this is all done online. As a mom of 3, I don’t have time to physically go to stores. I order and return. And you can too!

Below you will find a list of stores that I frequent. And I mean frequent. I check these sites at least once a week. I know, it sounds like a lot of time to spend, but we are already on our phones browsing social media. I just redirect my attention elsewhere. I have some favorite brands that I know and love that I specifically search for. This also helps cut down on how much time I actually spend hunting. I hop on, I search for my brands (to name a few of my favorites: Nicholas, Veronica Beard, Sau Lee, ASTR the label, Wayf, Frame, Citizens of Humanity, Madewell) and then move onto the next site. I also buy it when I see it. I don’t necessarily wait for an event to start hunting. When I score a great find, I buy it and save it for something I might have in the future. If you don’t do this, that coveted item or brand will be gone when you go to look for it in the future.

Not only do I frequently check stores, but I also am a smart consumer and pick where and how I spend my money. This next tip specifically applies to shoes and for those woman with a smaller foot. Women with a smaller foot; size 7-8 and smaller can actually wear kids shoes! A size 7 in women’s is the equivalent to a size 5 kids. So big name brands, with big price tags attached, can be obtainable if you buy the kids size equivalent. In recent years, kids fashion has been elevated to appeal to a more mature look. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good party shoe, but the sequin Mary Janes are not something I am going to be repping. Brands like Ugg, Nike, Toms, Northface, Sorel and Golden Goose (just to name a few) all make almost the exact same shoe in adult and kid sizes. So you can score that elevated look at a fraction of the price, just by shopping kids. Both my Ugg boots and Golden Goose sneakers are from the kids section!

You can follow me on the LIKEtoKNOW.it app @sweetnikkibabe, where I will be linking all my hunt finds. Or you can click here!

Below are the stores that I frequent and some images of my favorite scores!

Ebay.com - buyer beware since there can be a lot of fraudulent items on here. You are protected to an extent as the buyer but you still want to fully vet the listing before purchasing.

Walmart.com - here my out you can sometimes find designer brands on here for way, way less. Just the other night I found a ton of Saylor dresses for $30-$40.

Thanks for stopping by babes!
